The Big Event of 2006 was Dad's (George Marshall) 80th year and all members met up at Scotts Head for a Family Reunion and catch up with each other and even meet some we hadn't seen for decades.

George and Helen Marshall were married in 1950 and had their first child (me) in 1953............

(the year the Queen Elizabeth was coronated queen, the year Joseph Stalin dies, Tenzing Norgay climbed Mt Everest, Mao Zedong became President of the People's Republic of China)....and other events I've read about but can't find reference to!!

Dad worked in the Bank of NSW all his working life and refused to take a transfer to Sydney; he viewed the place with pure contempt and valued the simple, unhurried life in the country as more desirable than any money!

Mum was an English school teacher and would only go back to work when her six children were safely at school; she would never consider allowing other people to care for her children!

These qualities in my parents provided me with 2 of the most important values I hold to. Money should does not replace the simple caring atmosphere of the family unit, regardless of the hardships that this may bring.
